Famag 1663 Bormax Fostner Carbide Tipped are suitable for all types of softwoods and also tropical hardwoods. Because the tips are fully guided they can also cut interlocking holes, and even enter the wood at an angle, all for about the same price as a traditional carbide tipped forstner.
Additionally, just like the standard Bormax bits the outer perimeter is relieved allowing the heat generated at the cutting edge to dissipate. They can also be used freehand or in a drill press, the larger ones at up to 750rpm and the smaller ones at up to 2500rpm. The Bormax design works so well that they are cool enough to touch by hand within a few seconds of being withdrawn from the hole. The cutting edges remain sharper for longer and so the overall durability of the tool is greatly extended and maintenance reduced.
The only carbide tipped forstner bits designed to particularly be used freehand in a power drill.

As with all FAMAG products they are manufactured to exacting tolerances, so holes drilled with a FAMAG bit will always precisely match a plug cut with a corresponding FAMAG plug cutter.
Because the tips are fully guided they can also cut interlocking holes, and even enter the wood at an angle, all for about the same price as a traditional carbide tipped forstner.
Also available are 6 piece sets of Bormax TCT’s as pictured above.
