Flat Wood Bits are generally the quickest, easiest and cheapest solution for drilling larger diameter holes into wood. They are primarily for use in timber, making them less versatile than holesaws, but they can drill to deeper depths. Additionally, it is not necessary to need additional equipment like arbors or pilot drills. Many of them will have a hole in the centre of the paddle; this enables wires and cables to be attached and pulled through holes after drilling. They are mostly suitable for use in medium and softwood, plywood and MDF. It has a compound angle, ground recessed cutting edge for superior cutting performance and a 1/4″ quick release hexagonal shank for use in both 3 jaw chucks and 1/4″ quick release adaptors. It is important to know that they can leave a rougher finish than alternative methods. As they will create splintered exit holes if driven straight through a piece of timber. These are available to buy from Swiftfix in the brands ADDAX and BAHCO.
